The localization of high value-added products by Korean companies in Uzbekistan would be a good basis for mutually beneficial cooperation, Laziz Kudratov, Uzbek’s first deputy minister of investment and foreign trade, said in an interview with the Korea Herald.

Kudratov said Korea and Uzbekistan share a reliable and proven relationship with a special strategic partnership, stressing that Uzbekistan-Korea cooperation has reached a new level.

Trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Korea has nearly doubled in the past five years, from $1 billion in 2016 to $1.9 billion in 2021, according to Kudratov.

“In the first quarter of 2022, despite the ongoing pandemic, bilateral trade increased by 51.5% to $630 million compared to 2021,” said Kudratov, who is also director general of the Development Agency. strategy of Uzbekistan.

According to Kudratov, Uzbekistan and Korea should sign a free trade agreement to speed up consultations on Uzbekistan’s accession to the World Trade Organization and receive additional phytosanitary permits to expand Uzbek agricultural products on the Korean market.

Referring to opportunities in engineering, procurement and construction, he said Uzbekistan’s economic environment is changing rapidly with promising opportunities in public-private partnerships for Korean companies to engineering, procurement and construction.

Kudratov also pointed out that a new law on public-private partnerships has made a wider range of projects in Uzbekistan – including in health care, education and infrastructure development, including road construction, of railways and energy facilities – available for investment.

“There are also many promising opportunities in power generation,” he said.

He cited investment agreements signed by the Uzbek government with energy producers such as Masdar, Total Eren, the French group EDF, Veola and others to renovate and build solar, wind and thermal power plants.

Masdar is a renewable energy company owned by the government of the United Arab Emirates.

“The Uzbek government intends to increase the capacity of solar power plants from virtually zero in 2020 to 2.5 gigawatts, and the capacity of wind turbines to 2 gigawatts by 2025,” he said, noting that Uzbekistan had started implementing several socially important projects with the Korea Export-Import Bank.

Citing the framework agreement between the Uzbek and Korean governments signed in 2021, he said there are many opportunities.

The agreement envisages attracting loans from the Korea Economic Development Cooperation Fund for the period 2021-2023 to implement projects totaling $1 billion in the social field.

“There are no challenges but great opportunities for cooperation that are not yet discovered,” the minister stressed.

According to Kudratov, the Uzbek government gives priority to expanding investment cooperation and attracting advanced Korean technologies and know-how for the development and implementation of new projects in the technologies of information and communication, science, health care, pharmaceuticals and agriculture.

Asked how Uzbekistan would play a role in helping Korean companies reach the consumer markets of China and India, the minister said that Uzbekistan’s open, mutually beneficial and constructive foreign policy with the China and India, high-level government exchanges and Uzbekistan’s comprehensive strategic relations and intensification cooperation as the foundation of the goal.

“Uzbekistan’s trade turnover with China and India has increased by 50% since 2017 and reached 7.4 billion dollars and 400 million dollars in 2021, shows the growing interest of Chinese consumers and Indian for products made in Uzbekistan,” he said, pointing to Uzbekistan as a source for half of the total amount of mung beans imported into China.

“There is a significant amount of mutual trade accounts for yarn, which is also a vital product in the production of consumer textiles,” he said.

“China is one of the biggest investors in the Uzbek economy,” Kudratov said, adding that Chinese investment has increased fivefold to more than $8 billion since 2017.

Korean companies interested in producing value-added products in Uzbekistan can take advantage of investment and trade opportunities to supply more products to China and India, he said.

Kudratov highlighted the Uzbek government’s recent policies in the textile industry, saying that Uzbekistan is moving towards higher value-added production in the textile industry.

“From 2020, Uzbekistan has canceled raw cotton exports to encourage companies to invest in value-added production of finished and semi-finished products such as textiles and fashion,” he said. .

Kudratov named textiles as the first industry to be fully privatized by Uzbekistan to create a system of vertically integrated “textile clusters” run by private companies that control all operations, from cotton growing to finished products.

“Most cotton is now produced by 96 textile clusters in all regions of the country,” Kudratov said.

Uzbekistan must increase its exports of textile products to $7.1 billion by 2025 for consumers in the Commonwealth of Independent States, China, Turkey and the EU, according to Kudratov.

Describing the diverse market size and stable economy of his country, Kudratov pointed out that 35 million Uzbek consumers, a high literacy rate and a workforce of 15 million people are substantial attractive aspects for the industries.

“Uzbekistan is one of the youngest nations in the world with 60% of the population under the age of 30,” he said.

According to Kudratov, Uzbekistan has created a business ombudsman as well as the council of foreign investors under the chairmanship of Shavkat Mirziyoyev to raise the standards of investment and industrial and innovative development.

He said Uzbekistan had reduced tax types from 13 to nine and introduced light tax payment mechanisms with the possibility of deferral or installment.

Uzbekistan established unified centers as a “one-stop shop” for business entities to facilitate business registration procedures in 30 minutes, simplified permit application procedures by canceling 42 types of licenses and permits and reduces the number of documents required, Kudratov said.

Referring to the adoption of a new unified law on investments, the minister said that the law preserves all previous guarantees and privileges for investors with new incentives such as tax credits and government subsidies for investment. investment for the construction of external infrastructure.

“Uzbekistan has improved by more than 18 points, from 166 in 2012 to 69 in 2022 in the World Bank’s Doing Business Index,” he said, adding that credit risk of Uzbekistan in the ranking of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development fell from sixth to fifth group in 2019 placed Uzbekistan at the level of countries such as Brazil, Turkey and Vietnam.

Explaining the regional potential, Kudratov said Uzbekistan has regular cargo transportation to markets in Pakistan and South Asia with a total population of over 1.5 billion people.

“Twenty-two FEZs (Free Economic Zones) are operating in Uzbekistan to provide investors with privileges and preferences for three to 10 years depending on the volume of investments, with 538 projects worth almost $3 billion already in place. work in the FEZ”, according to Kudratov.

Uzbekistan has received the status of EU beneficiary of the General Scheme of Preferences Plus as well as the enhanced GSP framework from the UK, which creates additional opportunities to consolidate bilateral industrial cooperation between Uzbekistan and Korea , added the minister.

Choosing Voluntary Products and Carriers: Balancing Price and Value https://troydeltachi.org/choosing-voluntary-products-and-carriers-balancing-price-and-value/ Sun, 19 Jun 2022 13:17:27 +0000 https://troydeltachi.org/choosing-voluntary-products-and-carriers-balancing-price-and-value/ For brokers, administration and service are key considerations when choosing a trader, topped only by product features and benefits. “In for money.” It’s a cliché because it’s true. Whether you’re choosing a restaurant, starting tires on a new car, or trying on shoes, your purchasing decision matters more than price.

The same goes for when deciding which carrier voluntary product to offer your customers. Price is an important consideration in keeping the benefits package affordable for employees, but defaulting to the cheapest option may not be the best choice.

Related: Positive Outlook: 8 Voluntary Benefit Trends

Instead, look for the product that offers the best value. Some of the important factors to consider are:

Nick Rockwell, Eastbridge Consulting Group, Inc. Nick Rockwell, Eastbridge Consulting Group, Inc.

Benefits and Features — Does the product meet the needs of your client’s employees, given the demographics of the workforce and other benefits the employer already offers?

Cover level — Can the product provide the amount of coverage employees are likely to need?

Subscription options — Does the product offer competitive guaranteed issue underwriting or could it be difficult for employees to qualify for coverage?

Once you’ve checked those boxes and determined that the product meets your customer’s basic requirements, there’s another set of questions to ask:

Does the carrier offer excellent administration and service? A recent BenefitsPRO/Eastbridge Consulting Group survey of voluntary benefits producers shows that 41% of brokers believe that administration and service are key considerations when choosing an insurer. In fact, it is the second most important factor, topped only by the features and benefits of the product. Key aspects of administration and service include accurate billing and self-service options for your customers to make changes to their policy.

What is the carrier’s reputation for claims? Prompt and accurate payment of claims is a key driver of customer satisfaction, and claims processing times vary widely by carrier and product. For example, a recent Eastbridge survey shows that most carriers pay voluntary claims within 10 days, but the average turnaround time for a more complicated product like critical illness ranges from two to 90 days. In the same survey, only about half of carriers say they offer an “express-pay” type of claim payment, typically for life or wellness claims, and only a few offer express-pay for other products such as disability, cancer, accident and hospital allowance.

How will you register the product? Ask if your client’s benefits administration system can handle the product. If not, see what other solutions the carrier has for this situation. Nearly 4 in 10 brokers who participated in our survey cite a carrier’s ability to integrate with an employer’s registration and administration system as the most important factor in choosing a carrier.

If the carrier you’re considering meets all of these criteria, you’re well on your way to making a solid, value-based decision. But you’re not quite done. A product only brings value to your customers and their employees if they can understand it and how it helps close gaps in their financial protection and, therefore, enhance their participation.

In our next article, we’ll talk about balancing rich perks with the need for products that employees can actually understand and buy.

Every product we feature has been independently selected and reviewed by our editorial team. If you make a purchase using the included links, we may earn a commission.

“Our philosophy is to make one of everything really good.” That’s what Hailey Bieber told PEOPLE Rhodes, the skincare brand she’s been teasing for months (and hypingly promoting now that it’s available to buy). “What sets Rhode apart is that we offer a very curated and edited line of essentials.”

Ahead of its June 15 launch, five PEOPLE editors tried out the model’s new line, incorporating its first trio of products, which are grouped into The Rhode Kitin their daily routine for an average of 10 days.

Curious to know what they thought of it before buying it for yourself? Keep reading for our first impressions of Rhode! (Spoiler: at least one writer can confirm that her skin “looks more dewy!”)

The Rhode range consists of three products: the Peptide Glaze Fluidthe Barrier Restoring Creamand the Peptide Lip Treatment. The collection’s key ingredients include peptides, which the brand says “visibly plump and reduce the appearance of fine lines”; niacinamide, which “nourishes, brightens and improves overall skin texture”; and hyaluronic acid, which “locks in hydration.” You’ll also find hydrating shea butter, softening marula oil and supportive squalane.

Our team definitely agreed on one thing: it looks very cool. “Clean and fresh, very Gen-Z in a cool way,” said business writer Jenn Chan. “The packaging forces me to reach for it more than others because it looks so unique.” And speaking of Bieber’s intention to make his products “accessible and achievable for everyone,” business writer Claire Harmeyer noted, “The fonts are sophisticated and subtle and they don’t feel too fancy or inaccessible.”

Michelle Lee, Style and Beauty Editorial Assistant, added, “Aesthetically, I loved the matte gray packaging and the pastel colors when it came to differentiating the scented products. It was very on brand for Hailey. “

And speaking of odors, “Barrier Restore Cream and Peptide Glaze Fluid are odorless,” confirmed Alex Warner, Writer and Chief Commerce Strategist. “The cream is a richer white color and the icing fluid is more of a translucent white color. Both become completely transparent within seconds of being smoothed onto your skin.”

“The scented peptide lip treatments, of course, have a smell, but I liked them,” says business writer Madison Yauger. “I didn’t notice the odors while wearing the products. The lip treatment comes out as a clear gel, which is a bit thick, but spreads easily on the lips.”

As for the line’s usability, “the instructions are very straightforward and make it easy to understand how to add the products to your regular routine,” Warner said.

Keep reading for more details on each product, and stick around for our final thoughts on Rhode at the very end.

Alexander: “The Peptide Glazing Fluid is light and smooth. I expected the peptide product to be more of a liquid serum, not a cream. everything is dried. It comes in a small container with a pump and a removable cap. The cap is definitely secure and was sometimes difficult to remove, but it was good for traveling so the product didn’t accidentally leak anywhere. I appreciate that it dispenses a pea-sized amount, controlling how much you use.”

Madison: “The Peptide Serum is more like a liquid-based cream because it’s so thin and can easily be dispersed between two fingers. My skin took on an immediate dewy glow and stayed hydrated throughout the day.”

Michele: “It glided on well and was easy to layer with my other products (after an essence and before my sunscreen). It left my skin feeling smooth and the lightweight formula was great for my oily skin – I tend to gravitate towards gel and lighter consistencies. My skin absorbed this one quicker. I had no problem applying my makeup on top of it either.

“But I didn’t like how bulky the packaging was compared to the lightness of the product. While the pump dispersed the right amount of moisturizer, the cap was difficult to twist and remove.”

Clear : “I was hoping to visually see that ‘dewy glow’ Hailey still plugs in, and I can confirm that my skin looks more dewy after less than two weeks of use! I really think it gives my skin an immediate glow flexible.I notice extra dewy and shine every morning after using it the night before.I really like lathering it on my face after cleansing as it leaves my skin feeling hydrated and looking dewy.

“A note: the cap was not extremely easy to remove. The first time I removed it, some of the product spilled out and was lost. You have to pump quite hard to get enough product out of the nozzle. However, I like the unique shape of the bottle and its angled cap.”

Madison: “The Barrier Restore Cream feels like a thicker cream, but it’s still quite lightweight. It applies easily and dries quickly. But when I used it with the Peptide Glazing Fluid, my oily/combination skin tended to have this oily shine towards the end of Towards the end of the trial period, I started applying the Glazing Fluid in the morning, then the fluid and the barrier cream in the evening.

Alexander: “It has a thick texture, but it blends in smoothly when I massage it into my skin. It comes in a squeeze tube that’s easy to open and close, but that can be tricky because you might dispense too much product. This can be a waste. This way.

But I will definitely continue to use it! I was looking for a good thick moisturizer that I can use in my morning and evening routine, and this one has been great for hydration. I love that it doesn’t leave my face sticky.”

Michele: “The cream is heavier than the Peptide Glazing Fluid but still blends easily into the skin. Although both left my skin smooth on initial application and I noticed a slight evening of tone and luminosity after , over time I developed an irritation that made my skin texture uneven (i.e. I had a few small breakouts), and my skin felt slightly dehydrated and tight after using the Barrier Restore Overnight Cream.”

Clear : “The cream is not as hydrating as I had hoped – it absorbs very quickly and makes me feel like I need a little more to really lock in the moisture…I needed to use more than the suggested “half finger length” in order to make my whole face feel hydrated. But I like that he advises layering with the Peptide Glazing Fluid because it looks like a nice combination.

“I don’t notice as much visual effect from this product, but my skin feels extremely smooth after using it.”

Jennifer: “I think the star product here is the Peptide Lip Treatment. I loved the consistency, the scent – the glossy, dewy effect is so pretty and unlike any of my other lip balms or treatments. The one at watermelon is my favorite.”

Madison: “The Peptide Lip Treatment felt like a much thinner version of Aquaphor. It comes out like a clear gel, a bit thick, but spreads easily on the lips. It created the same glossy barrier on my lips, but it looked like to a glossy lip and I kept my lips hydrated for several hours after application.”

Alexander: “The peptide lip treatments come in long little squeeze tubes with a rim that allows them to be applied to the lips seamlessly. They apply like a gloss and feel slightly sticky, but not uncomfortably so. made my lips very soft when rubbed in them I love the taste and smell of watermelon – it reminds me of the lip balms I used as a kid I plan to apply it over other lipsticks pigmented lips for a shiny and hydrating finish.

Michele: “These had a heavy gloss-like feel that lasted after hours of application, which I didn’t mind as it was more hydrating. After application, my lips felt hydrated and I didn’t feel the need to reapply multiple times.I would say the best packaging goes to the peptide lip treatments: I loved how compact they were (great for on the go) and the applicator allows the product to apply smoothly.

“I loved that even the scented lip treatments didn’t have an artificial, overpowering scent. As someone with sensitive skin, I always try to buy fragrance-free products, so this element was perfect for me I would use the lip treatments again because I loved the application, the scents and the shine, which I think would make a great alternative to lip gloss – shiny and hydrating at the same time time !”

Clear : “These bottles are a good size to keep in your purse or on a bedside table. The press-on applicator makes these lip balms easy to apply without getting your fingers dirty.

“It’s not too sticky on my lips, but rather slightly hydrating and feels premium. It absorbs quite slowly, which is nice because I don’t feel the need to reapply soon after. My lips definitely have looks softer and juicier after using it! Lip treatments are nice overnight as they are a bit sticky for about 20 minutes after application.”

“It’s a line for someone on the go who doesn’t have a lot of time to deal with a super fancy diet,” Chan inferred. “Really nice formulas, not too thick or too sticky. They apply easily and penetrate directly into the skin without effort. The products are simple and straightforward.” She also noted that her skin was “visibly fresh and radiant – I did a double take one morning.”

“My skin has a slightly more radiant glow a few hours after application, but isn’t too dewy or oily, which I think is ideal,” Warner added. “I can definitely say that my skin feels smoother after the immediate application, but I haven’t noticed any really significant improvements in my skin’s overall hydration after just two weeks.”

“Overall, I really liked these products,” Yauger said. “Even after a week, my skin is smoother and generally more hydrated, which is promising (especially in the summer!). I plan to keep using them to see what the results look like in a month, and I can’t wait to see what else Rhode comes out in the future.”

A recent national poll showed that 71% of adults oppose animal testing, and in another poll respondents said they would stop buying their favorite skincare and makeup products if it involved any form of animal testing. These views highlight the importance of turning your massage practice into a cruelty-free space.

The problems of animal testing

Carbon dioxide chambers, electro-ejaculation devices, guillotines, restraint chains, shock plates, dissection (without anesthesia) and lethal dose testing are not the first practices that come to our minds. mind when we think of body care.1. The reality is that these torture devices—yes, that’s how they should be defined—are strongly tied to the manufacturing practices of all kinds of cosmetic products.

PETA states that “every year more than 110 million animals, including mice, frogs, dogs, rabbits, monkeys, fish and birds, are killed in American laboratories” 2. For the sake of beauty, we are willing to traumatize and kill innocent, helpless creatures.

Even though the FDA advocates the development and implementation of alternative tests, it also justifies the use of animal testing methods if and whenever companies deem it necessary in order to ensure that ingredients and final cosmetic formulations are safe for humans.3.

The emphasis is on making these methods as “ethical and humane” as possible by obtaining the maximum amount of applicable scientific data with a minimum of animal sacrifice.3.

The question remains how to reduce the pain and damage that personal care companies inflict on living beings. Judging by the graphic evidence that has bombarded all media, this feat seems next to impossible.

A much different story is playing out internationally, with the European Union leading the way in the cruelty-free movement in 2013. Today, 41 countries, including Australia, India, Israel, Mexico, New Zealand, South Korea, Taiwan and Turkey4, followed suit and completely banned or limited animal testing for cosmetic purposes. It’s hard to believe the United States is so far behind in this area given the incredible testing innovation available across the country.

Although consumers are not legislators, we have the power to reverse this unfortunate situation. In an effort to achieve this goal, we will dedicate this article to explaining what truly cruelty-free means and why it is essential that cruelty-free products are part of every massage therapist’s business plan.

Cruelty-free: the definition

Cruelty free means that the ingredients or products in question have not been tested on animals. It’s so simple5. What is not simple is the process to achieve such status. Many companies have designed their own cruelty-free logos, which usually include a rabbit, in an attempt to convince customers that no animals were harmed in the manufacturing process of their products.

This couldn’t be further from the truth, as no one should ever fall prey to claims that cannot be backed up by a third-party assessment. These logos are very misleading and do not guarantee anything except to make money from uninformed consumers.

While there are a few cruelty-free accredited logos on the market, the one you should look for in every cosmetic packaging is the Leaping Bunny Standard. This logo is regulated by the Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics (CCIC) in the United States and Canada, and Cruelty Free International (abroad). Because these logos are standardized, they require brands to engage in a rigorous supplier vetting system to certify that their supply chain management is free from animal testing.6:

• Submit to independent audits.

• Recommit to the program each year.

• Suppliers must submit documentation proving compliance with the standard.

• The final product must never be tested on animals.

• Companies will not be allowed to sell their products in markets that require animal testing.

• Ingredients of animal origin are allowed as long as their extraction/manufacture does not involve any form of cruelty, such as beeswax.

Leaping bunny states that brands owned by a parent company that test on animals can be certified, but they “must promise to operate as self-contained subsidiaries with their own supply chains and must continue to meet Leaping Bunny Standard requirements in order to remain on our list.”

Interestingly, there is no legal definition of the term “cruelty-free”,seven but relying on a standard like Leaping Bunny guarantees the cruelty-free status of an ingredient or product6.

Why is it crucial to be cruelty-free?

The most compelling evidence against animal testing comes from the fact that 95% of drugs that are shown to be safe and effective in animal testing provide no human benefit or cause serious harm.8. Of the remaining 5%, half must be relabeled due to side effects that could not be predicted in animal testing.

This shows that at some point ingredients or end products will need to be tested on human subjects8Additionally, modern science has enabled humans to develop non-animal testing methods such as computer modeling, in vitro testing, human-patient stimulators, and research with human volunteers that are more accurate, affordable, and rapid.9.

Those focused on sales should know that cruelty-free products increase both loyalty and purchase intent; this phenomenon is known as ethical consumptionten.

The reason for such behavior is that customers believe they are making a socially responsible purchase.ten. In 2021, the demand for cruelty-free cosmetics has reached the staggering number of $5.45 billion and should touch the $9.9 billion by 203111.

All of this data is consistent with a national poll two years ago in which 71% of adults oppose animal testing.12. In another survey, respondents claimed they would stop buying their favorite skin care and makeup products if they involved any form of animal testing. 13. Customers’ position on this issue is crystal clear and highlights the importance of making your massage practice a cruelty-free space.

Takeaway meals

There is no justification for animal testing in the beauty care industry. There is no real benefit that we as humans can derive from such a practice, and it is impossible not to exercise some form of torture while performing the various forms of animal experimentation.

More importantly, animals have no way of consenting to it. We have absolutely no right to make that decision for them either. All species have an equally important role to fulfill in this world. The idea advanced by the theory of speciesism that other living beings are inferior to man – and therefore “in his service” – is unethical.

There is some light at the end of the tunnel, however, as seven states: California, Nevada, Illinois, Maryland, Virginia, Hawaii, Maine and New Jersey14– followed in the footsteps of the EU, as well as other countries, and recently banned animal testing in almost all cosmetics14.

Your mission as a massage therapist is to use only certified cruelty-free body care products in your services and to demand that companies that still rely on animal testing change their policies. These actions will benefit the planet and your business, and improve your reputation and as a healthcare professional.
