CCTV catches burglars stealing around $30,000 worth of merchandise from Raleigh shoe store

RALEIGH, NC (WNCN) — Within minutes, a group of people with covered faces kicked into the door of One of One Boutique in Raleigh early Monday morning.

All of this was captured by the store’s surveillance cameras.

“I watch it and I’m just like it’s crazy. Like, they’re in there. So it’s 3 a.m. I was literally in bed about to fall asleep,” Terry said Mango.

Mangum owns One of One. He rushed to the store after the Ring monitoring system alerted him.

He and his partners encountered police officers at the store.

“They took a lot of local clothing brands. They took a lot of clothes. But really, they took a lot of shoes. Yeezy’s [and] Jordan, you know,” Mangum said, looking around the store.

He said more than 50 sneakers were stolen. According to Raleigh police, the thieves walked away with about $30,000 in clothing and shoes.

“A lot of pairs ended up with one shoe. Which I’m happy with. You know, they can’t take advantage of that,” Mangum said.

Police also said the thieves left $500 in damage when they broke down the door to gain entry.

“They damaged stuff. Broken the window. They took the cash register and the POS system,” Mangum said.

Mangum said it was the second burglary in months. The first in October, he said, wasn’t even close to that.

“We don’t know what the insurance will do. They could drop us off. That’s why we rely on the community to help us,” he said.

While the store remains closed, Mangum said a friend gave him an idea for the dozens of pairless sneakers.

“My boy at Sircastleteees said he had a similar thing. He said he gave them to soldiers at Fort Bragg. So I could do this for people who only have one leg,” did he declare.

So far, police have not identified any suspects. Currently, One of One is fundraising online to help recover lost items.
