Kongsberg Geospatial Provides 3D Operator Visualization for Iris Automation’s Ground Based Optical Detection and Avoidance (DAA) Solution

Kongsberg Geospatial, developer of the TerraLens Geospatial SDK, has partnered with Iris Automation to enhance its Casia-G ground-based DAA system. Casia G is a ground-based surveillance system that constantly monitors the airspace using a 360-degree optical solution to ensure UAS operation is safe from intruding aircraft. Iris Automation recently received its second FAA Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) waiver to conduct flight operations in Reno, Nevada using Casia G. Kongsberg Geospatial now offers a fully integrated operator situational awareness display in Casia G which will provide visual cues, alerts and warnings when Casia G detects an intruder or loss of separation.

Iris Automation pioneered Casia I and Casia X, the first on-board autonomous commercial collision avoidance systems for unmanned aircraft systems (UAS). Casia G leverages the same artificial intelligence and computer vision technology – but stationary – to detect approaching aircraft for your UAS operation. By obtaining the waiver from the FAA, Iris Automation had to prove a successful sensor solution to safely conduct BVLOS operations, which will unlock the full potential of drones. This revolutionary sensor capability is combined with Kongsberg Geospatial’s decades of display experience in airspace management. The joint capability will allow for an “electronic observer” versus a human observer.
