Production of six mineral commodities increases in last fiscal year
The Ministry of Industry, Mines and Commerce’s review of the last fiscal year (ending 20 March 2022) shows that the production of six mineral commodities (out of 12 under review) recorded growth compared to the similar period of the previous year.
A total of 571,100 tonnes of pure aluminum ingots were produced during the period, up 25.1% from the corresponding period last year.
Flat glass production increased 17.6% year-on-year to 1.36 million tonnes.
The production of porcelain dishes increased by 8.1% year-on-year to 61,100 tons while the production of copper cathode stood at 299,000 tons, registering a year-on-year increase of 2.8%.
Tiles and ceramics production reached 455.89 million square meters, registering a 1.3 percent year-on-year increase, while alumina production rose 0.7 percent to 230,700 tons.
The following products showed a decline in production during the period: sanitary ware reached 100,900 tons, down 14.5%, coal concentrate production was 1.47 million tons, down 12.8% year on year, cement and steel products were 63.08 million tons and 25.13 million tons respectively. , down 9.1% and 5.3% respectively year-on-year.
The production of glass dishes exceeded 728,600 tons, showing a decrease of 2.2% year-on-year.
Crude steel production reached 28.12 million tonnes, indicating a 1.8% year-on-year decline.
The review also showed that the production of six other mineral commodities (out of 12 under review) recorded growth in the 12th month of the previous fiscal year (February 20-March 20) compared to the previous month.
Cement production increased by 28.3% MOM to 5.68 million tonnes.
Crude steel production during the month reached 2.53 million tonnes, indicating growth of 22.8% from the previous month.
Copper cathode production reached 26,200 tonnes, up 22.1% month-on-month.
Alumina production reached 19,600 tonnes, recording monthly growth of 9%.
Flat glass production amounted to 120,400 tonnes, up 6.1% MOM.
Production of steel products reached 2.13 million tons, up 4.7%.
Production of porcelain tableware reached 4,700 tons, down 14.1% MOM.
Sanitary ware production decreased by 8.9% MOM to 7,300 tons.
Production of pure aluminum ingots stood at 51,000 tonnes over the period, down 8.3% over one month.
Coal concentrate production also recorded a 4.4% drop in DOM to 126,400 tonnes.
The production of tiles and ceramics reached 35.53 million square meters, recording a decline of 3.7% MOM.
Production of glass dishes decreased by 0.9% to 58,100 tonnes.
